I have to admit, I had almost forgotten about Danny T and Tradesman. The production duo from Leeds, specializing in dancehall and UK steppers, is not exactly known for its productivity. A look at their discography shows: an album from 2017 and a remix from 2019, that's it so far. But now, after a full seven years, they are back with a new work: "Wicked city“ (Moonshine Recordings). The album only contains six tracks (less than one per year), but as the saying goes, good things come to those who wait. The tracks are digital productions, clearly produced with a focus on sound system sessions. So Dubs that are quite heavy and make no secret of the fact that they are of digital origin. What particularly strikes me are the amazingly imaginative arrangements. Beautiful drum patterns and percussion, brutal, electronically distorted bass lines and lots of little melodies that fit in cleverly. Sure, it's the usual stuff, you could say. But here it's implemented in such a way that you can listen to it consciously and enjoy it comfortably at home on the sofa. I like it.

Danny T & Tradesman: Wicked City

One response to “Danny T & Tradesman: Wicked City”
Yes, I can "like" that too. I'm just afraid that my neighbor, or rather all of my neighbors, wouldn't "like" me at all if I listened to it at home on the sofa with an unthrottled sound system. In any case, I would have problems enjoying it fully because I would constantly be thinking about my neighbors.
You can't see it, but I actually have something like "SoundSystemSound" here in my office at work. Two PA boxes with a volume of about half a cubic meter and integrated bass speakers, each with a diameter of 300 mm, stand on two self-made pure bass boxes with the so-called golden ratio for the respective bass speakers with a diameter of 360 mm. My office is about 20 square meters with a ceiling height of 3,50 meters. For this, I have turned the Internet equalizer up pretty high in the bass range. If you know what I mean.
When I woke up this morning with “Hard Revenge Dub“ I started the new work week, I thought at first, yes, the bass is not bad but I had only thought about this at
Minute 1:12 and what happened here then, I cannot in good conscience describe as healthy. Even if I am exaggerating a little, the “International DubWeekender" is just a children's birthday party in comparison ;-) It's not just my trousers that flap, but the entire physics complex with its walls made of reinforced concrete. My eardrums vibrate like the back of a saltwater crocodile at the sight of a mating crocodile young woman. I really don't think that's healthy. But it's AWESOME! If you know what I mean. At home I would be afraid of my neighbours' reactions, whereas here I'm overcome by fear that my colleagues will call out the men in the white jackets that fasten at the back. If you know what I mean. Well, I tend to push certain taboos to the limit before I think about a serious reprimand.
I also really enjoy the “Body Hammer”, although I don’t really like “Wicked City”. Otherwise, these Dubs all not my favoriteDubs but they have a very good portion
“SoundUmami” is there.
And now please don't laugh at the "technical specifications" of my boxes. I know that everything is given in inches and so on, but I'm a precision mechanic and because of my profession I hate inch measurements. Especially when it comes to thread designations.
Ok, have fun ……………….. lemmi
