Horace Andy: Midnight Scorchers

The cover alone and the small lettering (top left) are already worth five stars!

Whenever I see, hear and/or feel On .U Sound, I sing inside :

"It's coming home! It's coming home! DUB IS COMING HOME!!!”

Can you please take your time with the review?
First I'll write a comment on this fantastic disc.
There may be many reasons to go to the "DubHead" becomes. King Tubby, Prince Jammy, Scientist, Mad Professor are all terrific pioneers and pathfinders of this fantastic "Art Of Noise". I won't list all the ones that have come along over the years, because for me they don't yet belong in the "subject of nostalgia".
ich hore Dub primarily because of ADRIAN SHERWOOD ! I can't really explain it rationally, but the man conjures one up DubAtmosphere that is precisely tailored to the condition of all my body cells and all my synapses in the brain. Everything runs in sync.
Also people like z. B. Paolo Baldini, by Dub really understand something, have said in interviews that they are fascinated by the way Adrian Sherwood sets the effects.
“Mad Professor and Adrian Sherwood are beacons when it comes to using effects !!!”
When I look at this DubWhen I listened to the disc in quick succession, I thought at first, mmmh, a bit too much vocals, but nope, with the 1:1 sound delirium I didn't find the vocals too much and what Adrian Sherwood does with the vocals every now and then is salt again and chilli in one. It's not just spicy, it's razor-sharp and perfectly "seasoned"!
Even just the first few tones are Dub according to lemmi's international purity law. That can only be Style Scott, if not I'll be the goalie forever (but I can't promise that I'll stick to it). It is exactly this sound that, in the spirit of the Dolomitenmann, literally draws me to everyone Dublets the peak fly. No wonder, because Style Scott embodies reggae and Dub in one.
"Midnight Scorcher"!!! This riddim by Massive Attack probably has it for many DubVery fond of wizards. In any case, I now have a small but impressive number of them Dubversions. (Well, I'm probably exaggerating a bit, but two of them come to mind spontaneously). It's great to mobilize "old Daddy Freddy" for this. Together with Asher D, the man created a ragga hip-hop tune that, to me, is simply the best. Today like then!!! On the other hand, everything else that is now referred to as hip hop is simply “fake hop”. Flabby gendered, politically over-corrected fabric softener!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNXtj0_vnoE This is positive madness for me!!!
"People, you've got it now !!!"
"Away with the Gun And Knife" Here we have another BassLine that often makes me smile wearily at so many other BassLines. That's where my heart breaks! With this BassLine I feel at home and safe like on mom's lap or even more aptly like on mom's chest! "This Is The Sound! This Is The Vibe” is what Clive Hunt would say. And otherwise, the instrumentation and everything that goes with it DubTune (as well as the entire album) turns into a real magic forest (Sherwood Forest) simply the Champions League! If you look at the list of musicians involved, it should already be clear why we have an album of the extra class here. Every single musician has already completed the metamorphosis in the womb without imago cells and came as an incarnation from pure Dub to this world.
"Dirty Money Business" Riddim ! sounds ! and effects! All PERFECT and finished off with nice toasting from Daddy Fraddy. In addition, wind instruments (or their ProTools?) play very strong melodies, which also make me completely forget my saxophobia.
I can't change it, friends, but that's going to take a while here, because I'm only here now DubTune No.5!
Sleepy's Night Cap I should actually go even further than I'm going to do now. Anyway, I have to go back to the 80s. mad professorDUB ME CRAZY!!! I had so many sparks for Dub, I don't even remember which one sent out the biggest spark. but Dub Me Cracy ( Part One ) was definitely one of them.
With the BassLine from Sleepy's Night Cap, I flew back to the future like a time traveler and, suddenly again as a teenager who is full of juice, sat between my two SoundMonoliths and couldn't help but smile confidently and beyond any doubt . Which, by the way, I didn't want at all. Just a super cool feeling !!! No more and no less ! Exactly how I feel about "Psychologically Yours" just like the first day. Especially the BassLine is once again pure magic for me.
Then comes “Feverish” ……………………. Without words ! Listen and let it sink in. That is ReggaeUpliftment and by Adrian Sherwood to the very highest Dublevel raised. Magnificent effects that I can't describe in detail, because that far exceeds my ability to articulate myself in writing with words. Yes, and the trombone is again, simply sovereign!
As for "Aint no love in the heart of the city," I would be inclined to rate that as the weakest DubTune to designate here. But I couldn't find a reason to skip either. I find it too good for that. Yes, with "Adrian Sherwood Productions" even the weaker tunes are still great!
At "Dub Guidance” I feel the same way. Either I have to listen to him a few more times, which is clear anyway, or he will be put on the longer bench as a safe reserve. BassLine - I don't have to mention it - awesome!
Yes and then comes "More Bassy" !!! Apart from the fact that Mr. Bassie is one of my top favorites by Horace Andy in the old Studio One version (?), I've been celebrating him for quite a while in the "Pay It All Back 7 Version" in my very private dance hall. Should Dancehall Dj's frown now, I'll just say, "You have no idea" if you don't play it! The women will lie at your feet and want autographs and whatnot from you. And if not, they probably only like handbags and high heels, which make ugly crow's feet by the age of thirty at the latest. (If someone wants to interpret something misogynist here, I just say, go home and don't annoy me with your annoying rum). I didn't think Adrian Sherwood could do better than that, but with the help of Daddy Freddy he did it. Especially since he probably also wanted to loop in a few excellent effects.
The fan on "Hell and Back" sounds a lot like the Zion Train to me! That's not a compliment coming from me, because Zion Train is for me in things Dub pretty far back. But also this one Dub I don't have to skip it yet, although I'm sure it won't be playing on me that often, like "More Bassy" or anything else here on this disc.
So what should I do ?! It's On. U Sound !!! My comments are getting a bit longer because it creates a lot of new synapses in my head and also the crowning glory for me Dubcreation is.

"One shipment of Dub"
"Two, 3,4,5,6,7, XNUMX, XNUMX, XNUMX, XNUMX, eight Shipments Of Dub"
"Nine Shipments Of Dub"
"Ten Tons Of Dub"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeah man!!! On .U Sound Is In The Area !!!

Be glad I didn't do all that with my fanDubwrote HornBrille ;-)

So long ………………… .. lemmi
