A response to “Roots Radics, Ninjah Rockerz & Gacha Medz: Badest Bassman”
Well, I'm pretty sure Flabba Holt is really playing bass here. It certainly feels authentic to me. It's gotten to the point where I'm even starting to doubt the originals. But no, if it's not "Flabba" himself, I'll volunteer to go in goal, and that's where I'll stay. Unless, of course, some national coach doesn't recognize my top performances and insults me and half the nation.
Not irrelevant, but irrelevant too.
Although I'm generally a fan of maximalism, this EP is more minimal, if I'm not mistaken. But I'd happily listen to an entire double LP from Errol "Flabba" Holt where he's just playing bass and there's nothing else. No instruments, no effects, just "Flabba" and BIASSLINE! Here we also have the drums, which add some nice touches and are "felt" to be heard in the last third of each track. DubTunes with reverb and echo create surreal soundscapes. However, on closer inspection, this only applies to...
Gunman Riddim to you. Anyway, I'm at BiassMan's feet and as far as I'm concerned, 100 more EPs like this, or even better, entire double albums, can be released.
