The last DubAlbum, which was DubBlog was honored by a review, it has now been a whole month. I am not concluding that you are tired of reviews, but that you too are not interested in a new DubYou've discovered an album worthy of a review. So, if everything isn't looking so good right now, or just doesn't sound so exciting, I think that's a great thing, because it gives you more time for all the good records you already have at home but haven't listened to often enough, because you've wasted too much time on trivial failed attempts.
Even if this doesn't necessarily belong here, I just need to vent some of the frustration I felt when I saw the musicians "dropping out" at "Summerjam 25." Both the lineup and, especially, the music itself made me feel ashamed. Yes, I felt ashamed for others. So, that's what my favorite music has become. I'd say "cultural appropriation" is a thing of the past. Summerjam is cultural expropriation.
And now I want to see your hands! ……………… I'm going to the goal… lemmi
High lemmi
On arte.tv you can watch and listen to many (all?) of the Summerjam 25 concerts... and I can partly understand what you mean... I'm particularly annoyed by the huge screen on stage, which kills any kind of vibe... and yes, I've clicked on a few concerts (Albo, Morgan, Beenie, Inner Circle, Mortimer...) and haven't stayed at any of them for long... something is missing.
High Philip!
Thank you for your sympathy! I can always use some sympathy, because I'm usually the only one who feels it when things really go south. In any case, I'm often the one who speaks the uncomfortable truths bluntly. That's why people often call me a complainer. But I feel like I'm in good company, because ultimately, roots reggae is also a kind of "complaint music."
And nobody here wants to hear any more grumbling and uncomfortable truths. That's why everyone at Inner Circle, for example, is allowed to
Sing along diligently when the singer once again holds the microphone to the audience instead of delivering crisp reggae. The truth is officially no longer in such high demand. That's probably why there is no fact-checking in the "land of unlimited stupidity." Even in music, there are only lies. I learned this morning that Spotify doesn't mention when music comes from an AI. Whatever, they've had about 4 or even 400 million clicks within four weeks, and our good DubMagicians squirm along with 40 to 400 clicks. I think AI music is being pushed even further so that Succerberg and his ilk get even richer when you click on this "art."
How exactly I came to this conclusion and whether everything I am saying here is true remains to be seen, but I can assure you that I did not lie on purpose.
And if Inner Circle were almost the best band at a (former) reggae festival, then that actually says a lot about the quality of the others. At the JAH 9 concert, I felt downright anxious. I could hardly hear the band; they played so softly and they probably hadn't really rehearsed together. In any case, JAH 9 - from my point of view - didn't fit the - non-existent - groove at all. But hey, to be honest, the pretty lady is pretty awkward on record too - for my taste. Now, the fact is that most SINGERS AND PLAYERS OF INSTRUMENTS have gone before us, but there really isn't anything particularly good coming along, and that opens up all sorts of doors for AI music.
Then “your big screen” really takes on meaning, when there are only AI-degenerate bands and fantasy artists hanging around at the summer jam.
Okay, sorry! I'm going back to bed. Oh no! I have to work!
