Want another bird of paradise? There are people who live their lives and just do everything for the fun of it. Tommy Guerrero, a real street artist from the Bay Area, is one of them. Born in San Francisco, the charismatic skater appeared on the scene in the late 1980s as the youngest member of the legendary “Bones Brigade” skateboarding team in Frisco. As a street skater, Tommy Guerrero is highly valued in the skateboarding world, but he is also hugely successful as a designer (Levi's; Vans; Converse). A few years later he started his career as a musician with the release of his debut album "Loose Grooves & Bastard Blues" (1998). The album sold extremely well and now also established its extraordinary position in the music scene. Guerrero is now considered an accomplished bassist and guitarist with extremely different musical influences such as John Coltrane, Joy Division, Bad Brains, Gabor Szabo, Augustus Pablo, King Tubby and many others.
In 2019, Tommy Guerrero and Chuck Treece, his buddy from the old skating days, dared to try something completely different than "the conventional". In an interview, he said, when asked why he now has an album like "Dub Session”Made:“ I'm tired of doing the same thing every time. I'm sick of playing guitar and all that I do. Sometimes I'm just tired of myself and can't hear my own voice anymore. " That's why he suggested to his old friend and companion Chuck Treece: “Let's make a dub album." And whoosh, they retired to the studio for two days and worked on it. Chuck Treece took over the drums and percussions and Tommy Guerrero played the bass lines, guitars and all keyboards. “To stay mentally fit, we always have to be creative. To do this, we have to constantly change in order not to get tired of ourselves ... Of course, it is always difficult to leave your comfort zone. Many people who are used to the usual sounds will always criticize. But I do not care." With me, Tommy Guerrero walks into open doors with this - almost - stubborn attitude. He continues to push all borders while preserving the hippie legacy in and out of San Francisco Bay.

The album seems to be really good - for my taste!
Unfortunately the link to Spotify does not work properly for me.
The page with the album tracks opens but I can do it Dubs do not start.
So I checked in on youtube and there is only a summary of the album.
This summary sounds very promising! The DubMixing sounds a lot like good old school
a la Victor Rice and the basslines speak for the fact that Tommy Guerrero is someone who completely understood me.
But even if he no longer likes to hear himself play the guitar, I have to say that he does that too
- for my taste - mastered excellently.

this is now a really strange thing. In mid-June the album was even available on bandcamp and now it's not even there anymore. According to my research it is Dub Session only released in Japan now.
That's why I checked again for a streaming service:

Unfortunately, you can't find the whole album on youtube. It's a shame, that went really stupid now. Maybe someone from the Dubblog community has a usable link.
The eternal crap with the right. Of course, I don't mean the AfD and other political excrement in this context, but the unreliability of streaming itself. If the musician does not have his works himself (and in that case I like to acknowledge it if a decision is made against a distribution channel afterwards) then someone will pull the strings and say “there is too little with around, let's cut the distribution channel times off ".
This happens quite often, especially with independent music.
I can't listen to the old skater in full either.
I'm happy about everything that is here locally, as a file or, better still, as a sound carrier.
