Sly & Robbie & Junior Natural: Militant Dub

I was a little afraid of the new one Dub-Album of the Rhythm Twins. After Sly & Robbie produced me with all of their own DubWorks of the last few years had disappointed, I feared that with "Activist Dub“(Tabou1) would crumble a little more from the ideal base on which I had always placed my heroes. The really tasteless cover, on which a Sly Dunbar with a rocket launcher is clearly visible, even suggested that the base might have collapsed completely. But already the first track “Militant” with its incisive marching snarre gave a hint that “Militant Dub“Would not be in line with its predecessors. Maybe it was actually the vibes of the young Swedish singer Junior Natural - on his debut last year “Militant” this one Dub-Work based - which Sly & Robbie got out of the routine and inspired new ideas. "Militant Dub"Is unmistakably Sly & Robbie's" taxi sound "and yet the tracks are more exciting, more pointed and clearly more idiosyncratic than the taxi material of recent years. The mix is also far more inspired than what Dartanyan Winston has delivered on the last few albums. Fortunately, this time he doesn't have his fingers in the game. Instead, Robbie Shakespeare, in collaboration with Steven Stanley, is actually responsible for it. Did the two well. The album is not a revelation - how z. B. Dubmatix "Overdubbed ”, which was also based on Sly & Robbie material - but a solid, entertaining and classically beautiful one Dub- Late work by the Rhythm Twins. If this continues, the base will soon be made of flawless granite.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

High René!
Definitely not a revelation! But also not suitable for tearing. I think the riddims are pretty good, but I really want to Dub-Mixing the two probably still had no. The effects are very sparse and quite subtle, yes, almost well. But it doesn't matter, it fits! This is definitely an album where you only notice after listening to it several times how beneficial it all gets under your skin.
Regarding the “tasteless cover”, I have to admit that I don't find the guns so offensive. I would prefer Sly Dunbar to shoot it at the Chancellery, for example (so that cannabis is finally recognized as part of our culture and our country's mother doesn't keep talking nonsense) than, for example, when the IS on behalf of the worldwide secret services at women and Children shoots so that everyone willingly call for total surveillance and willingly “choose” the future dictators. Worldwide fascism is slowly becoming too dangerous for me and I would feel more comfortable if something could be countered. The fascists laugh at nonviolent resistance. Although (?) When I think about it ... the main thing is broken!

MILITANT DUB against fascism …………………… .. lemmi

(I hope I haven't broken the censorship now)

The cover is a bit off the mark in this day and age. The music ... inconspicuous as it has been for years at S&R. It seems to me - that's just a duty, the freestyle takes place on such exciting experiments as with Molvaer.
